Week 3 – Now Loading

This week’s forum activity focused on redaction with an exercise to find a magazine you would not normally read, redact the text and post the 3 most interesting pages. I used a magazine about the Canadian Yachting scene, which in retrospect was as boring as the title suggests. What was much more interesting was the different ways others redacted text and how each variation led to a distinct impression and interpretation.

Canadian Yachting Magazine, June 2021

Never having given a great deal of thought to redaction before, this was worth investigating further and to see how others used redaction outside of its intended purpose.
